Fraudulent Domain Name Renewal Notices – Don’t Fall For This SCAM

SCAM ALERT: If you get a text or e-mail (or snail mail) about your domain name renewal, it may be a scam, even if it looks legit or mentions GoDaddy. If you own domain names, DO NOT pay from, or click a link from, one of these renewal notices.  INSTEAD, go directly to the web site of YOUR domain registrar by typing their web address in the address bar (DO NOT CLICK LINKS in e-mail or text) and log in to your account and view the real information from there. Do not go by what you receive outside of that account.  The information related to your domain name is public record and unscrupulous companies can take that information and send you a “trickery” renewal notice that entices you to send them a payment to renew your domain names.  What is actually happening here is you are paying them a much higher fee and they are transferring your domain name from where it currently is registered to THEIR company …. and judging by the way they do business, not a legitimate, Top-Level registrar that you’d want to do business with.
